This program is used to design and analyze photography systems such as camera lenses as well as lighting systems. The first version of the program was released in 1990 under the name Max, which was later changed to its current name, Zimax. Ken Moore and was the first optical design program for the Windows operating system. Zemax is optical design software used to design and analyze optical and lighting systems.
